No. 26 - Get An Eye Test

I work behind a PC by Day & Watch TV by night. Before that i used to drive 30,000 miles a year. So my eyes have had it bad & now i notice myself sitting closer to the PC screen & struggling to read the small text on TV. That said, I don't get headaches but for the sake of £9.99 = peace of mind. If the results are bad however, i always thought i'd look quite handsome with glasses.

Status: - DONE

10.02.2007. - This task got completed swiftly due to the following:-

1. - I found out by chance that the Company I work for pay for an annual eye test.
2. - There is an Opticians accross the road from me me.
3. - As mentioned above, I find myself sitting closer to the PC screen & struggling to read the small text on TV

The appointment was for 11:45hrs. Time then for a training ride on the bike prior to the test.
The ride went well (Another 25 miles), but i was knackered. Would this have an effect on the test results?
Finally arrived at the opticians & waited for 15 minutes. Time then for one last read before my fate is known. Reading the paper i find myself thinking "Cant be that bad, no problems reading this" - & wondered if the receptionist thought "Why is he here? - he can read that paper OK"!
The moment arrives. I walk into a darkened room & introduce myself to the doctor. He was foregin (Swedish I think) & wore muticoloured spectacles, a bit like the ones Timmy Mallett used to wear on the "Wide Awake Club".

& then the test. Usual procedure, Just read the chart from the top down.

So got to the seventh line down & that was me done. Couldn't read another letter. All too blurry.
So i tried again, this time wearing those funny glasses with dials on. The doctor tried a couple of different lenses & guess what...
I could read the chart, right to the very bottom!!

So yes, I need glasses. The doctor suggested for use when reading, driving or watching TV.
Here is my prescription:-

So What to do next?

1. - Go & get a pair
2. - Get laser treatment
3. - Wear Contact Lenses

Need some time to get over the shock before i can make a decision.
